LANDSCAPE TREES

Landscape trees are available at Isanti Pinestead. Choose the option most convenient for you.

Balled and Burlapped Trees. We can dig, ball and burlap, and load 3’-4’, 4’-5’, or 5’-6’ trees with the pictured 34” skid steer mounted tree spade. You can select from our fields of Norway Pine, White Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, White Spruce (similar to Black Hills Spruce), Balsam Fir, or Fraser Fir. We only dig to order and try to dig within about 24 hours of pickup so the trees are as fresh as possible.

Sorry we do not offer delivery and planting as it takes us away from the farm too much. However, we will load your vehicle or trailer. The root balls are heavy and if you are not interested in doing the pickup or planting, we suggest contacting one of the many lawn and garden services available in almost all areas.

The ball and burlap digging season is normally from early-April to mid-May and again starting late-August to mid-October. Over the summer the trees are actively growing and the transplant shock is too great to dig.

Note—our trees are grown in light sandy soil. They do not do well when directly planted in heavy clay soils. The lighter soil becomes saturated because water cannot readily drain away through the clay creating a “bathtub” effect and causing root rot. On heavy clay soil build either a berm or mound so the trees can be planted above grade.

Truck Spaded Trees. Larger 6’-7’, 7’-8’, or 8’-9’ trees can be dug, delivered, and planted with a truck mounted spade. Again, you can select from our fields of Norway Pine, White Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, White Spruce (similar to Black Hills Spruce), Balsam Fir, or Fraser Fir.

The truck season also starts in early-April, but extends further toward the end of May and also from late August further toward the end of October as there is less shock to the tree because of the larger root ball. Also, with the truck, the tree is out of the ground only for the length of the travel time.
