Pinestead Christmas Tree Farm
2009 Grand Champion Fraser FirWe are very pleased that our entry in the 2009 Minnesota State Fair was selected as the Grand Champion Fraser Fir. As such, our farm has the privilege of providing the Christmas Tree this year for the Governor's reception room at the state capital.
Incidentally, a tree from the Pinestead Christmas Tree Farm also won Grand Champion in 2006, and overall we have won more than 50 ribbons at the state fair. In 2011 we added blue (1st), red (2nd), and pink (4th) ribbons to our collection.

Pinestead Tree Farms was featured in the Spring 2011 edition of Christmas Trees magazine (left); an industry magazine for growers. Our famous (to us) bear was on the front cover. Part 1 of a two part article on Isanti Pinestead included nine color photos of the farm. The Summer 2011 edition (right) included part 2 of the article and seven more color photos of the farm including the cover photo -- a December sunrise over our Fraser Firs.
During the Christmas holidays, we are blessed with many appreciative comments from families who have chosen the Pinestead Christmas Tree Farm for their family experience. We have always had a "Comments and Suggestions" area on the drawing slips for a free tree or free wreath. To show that we really do value our customer comments and suggestions, each year we type them up -- in their entirety -- and place them in a loose leaf binder in the gift shop. They have ran as much as nine pages! In addition, where appropriate, we respond to the comment or suggestion.
We have now also placed the comments and suggestions from the prior season (2010) on the web site. Again, every comment and suggestion is included -- none have been omitted (fortunately we have never had one containing inappropriate language). When appropriate, our response is included in bold. Click here, Comments and Suggestions, to check them out.
“Great spot—lots of fun! Wonderful selection of trees!! We will return.” J. C., Shoreview
“You have a great place. Keep up the great work as your trees are the best me and my family have had.” J. R., RichfieldFor the sixth year (2010) Christmas tree farms nationwide again teamed up during the holiday season to donate Christmas trees to the families of troops serving oversea. Pinestead Christmas Tree Farms is one of a number of Minnesota farms involved in the program and has participated every year since the program began in 2005.
Pinestead is a member of the National Christmas Tree Association which sponsors the event through its charitable arm, the Christmas Spirit Foundation. The Christmas Spirit Foundation teams with Fed Ex to ship several large truckloads of trees, along each coast, and in the mid-central region. The Minnesota truck originated in Andover and made additional pickups along the way before arriving at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Other Fed Ex trucks went to military bases on both the East Coast and West Coasts. About 30 bases, from all service branches received trees this year

The Minnesota Christmas Tree Association coordinates the pickup here in Minnesota with 200 trees coming from about a dozen different Minnesota farms. Pinestead's Phil Hartley said in a press release: “This is just one of a number of activities that the Christmas Spirit Foundation is sponsoring. The foundation was created to support activities that help promote families, kids, and the environment.”
